I Had A Dream That You Crashed...

by J. P. Davies

I had a dream that you crashed
and your mother phoned me up
and with shaky voice told me
"Jordan I have some terrible news...
Morganna has been in an accident."
Stop...My...Fucking...Heart...
"She's in a coma and the doctors
say she's paralysed
from the waist down."
Oh...Not...You...Please
You're a dancer...you need your legs!!
Dropped everything, and ran to your bedside
lived with my mom and everyday
played guitar for you
and read you plays...
whispered sweet nothings
clasped your small cold hand
that was enveloped in mine
stained your palm with tears
as I willed you to feel me close
hoped that when you woke up
I would be the first face you saw.
But you never woke up...
and as you lay there sleeping
I wasted away beside you
and they told me it was pointless
that there was nothing I could do
"Why don't you just go home?"
And I told them, "Because, She's Morganna."
And in my mind
that is all the explanation required.
You will wake up again, You will walk and dance
Because you are Morganna...a spirit unmatched
So there I stayed by your bed clasping your hand
and never letting go of hope.
And then I woke up crying
and in a panic striken sweat
and prayed that you were safe...
please be safe...
