child abuse, it's true

by Michele Schottelkorb

she cries in the dark

so you can’t see her fears

he laughs in the light

so you can’t see his tears

endless games are played

in the silence of night

destroying innocence

commencing her fright

   (where’s her will to fight?

      he has taken her sight

         her throat closes tight

                   with tenyearold might...)

Author's Note: i was inspired to write this after reading in Elisabeth M. Cout's folder "my dreadful childhood pain..."... brought back some of my own memories... damn, writing is so therapeutic...

I think writing is an invaluable self-help technique. This verse brings a very important subject out into the open. I'll also send some hugs.

Hi Michele, child abuse, it's true. It's powerful alright and so sad it truely happens. Way to often. It would make anyone angry when they read or hear abuse this happening to a child. It does me. It should never ever happen anyone, any kind of abuse. Many blessings and lots of hugs to ya.

abuse of any sort is bad and ranks low on the rungs of a victim's ladder, but child abuse is the lowest of the rungs as your poem, Michele, lets be known.

Hi Michele; I'm back and I appreciate you writing this after reading that folder. I have a folder of 'pain' related topics this time, too if you'd be interested in heading over!
