When I'm Mellow

by Ken Harnisch

When in some sly and subtle shifting way

I come to find the balance right

I will hang on to it, as I would the day

That presses on the turbulent night

With the promise of a rising sun

And light brought to the darker climes

Then end most of what I have begun

To fall back on the quieter times

To books and poems in endless streams

To walks up mountaintops alone

To reflections on my life and dreams

Discarding most, but keeping one

The one that keeps my heart aflame

And often, yearning, speaks your name

tender and nostalgic, Ken. lovely. books and landscape are great comforts to me too, when we miss people.

we do find solace and sense of living in nature and alone time, but it's most often love that keeps our souls feeling most alive. well pointed out.
