Last kisses and hugs

by Maureen Glaude

soft white body
lingering warmth in my lap
for her last kisses and strokes
my aged dog and I suffer, together
her demise

Tender and poignant. Brevity captures the sense of loss.

maureen, this is tragically beautiful... i held my dog as they put him to sleep... i cradled my cat as she died... this hits home and is felt with love... blessings...

oooh, i'm so sorry about your dog. this is such a warm and loving way to ease her passage though, just affection and being there...

This poem didn't just tug at my heart, it shot an arrow right through it, because I remember so vividly saying good-bye to my two other calicos. Beautiful poem, Maureen.
