momentary manifestation

by Betania Tesch

she rattles me gently
all my expectations shook up
and reaffirmed
with a soft smell of smoke
under her skin
emanating with her coy smile
the remembrance of her
all confidence and insecurity
clinging to my arm
and begging for pieces of love
awakens until she
scoffs defiantly
under the harsh light
of past comparisons
and I take her for what she is
what she was
what she never will be
just a momentary manifestation
of a mindfuck of mine
twisted reluctantly
into living.

Author's Note: so...it's cliched and transparent and no one will actually read this anyway because I'm too....lazy/busy/annoyed/tired....to read everyone else's brilliant work so alas...just an ego thing. here for me.

Ah, my dear, how blessed and joyful I am that I visited you even though I too allow myself to be captured by the busyness. This poem gets underneath the skin and the underneath side of the mind in your inimitable way. The daily human tussle with ego is artfully spoken here, but more than that, I hear the voice of that part of the higher Self that observes and notices, thus removing some of the power of the darkness.

Well, one can take solace in a conflict too. Feel good that despite the gloom, you are alive. Alive in observing, face to face and this piece.
