On Walking Around Downtown by Shayla R CakesThe thousands of cars speed past my aching feet
As I meander through the city
Peoplewatching, contemplating
Reflecting on the town I love...
The skyscrapers towering before me
Hundreds of drunken twenty-somethings
Acknowledging the aftermath of their night of fun
Guitar players and drug dealers
Rockstars and good friends
I'll take the bad with the good...
I love my town, and I wouldn't give it up.
I am a part of it,
With my reflection in the puddles
My friends greeting me with a warm smile
A smack on the tuckas,
A hug
And laughter.
I love my town...
The sirens of the police cars
And the request for spare change grows silent
Though they're still there
As I take in my city
As I become one with the thing I love the most
