Posted by Kimberly Bare on 11/06/03 at 07:07 PM "you are not poetry"...what a brilliant insult! Mind if i use that line in conversation sometime??
Posted by Kristine Briese on 12/02/03 at 07:43 PM Oh, this is exquisite! Magnificent! Beautiful and stunning!

Posted by Jolie Jordan on 01/23/04 at 01:37 PM I really hate it when the only thing I can think to say is "I can relate." it just seems SO overused (not to mention how cliche it is) but really, I CAN relate to this. it reminds me of someone SO much, and the fact that he is not poetry. it's almost impossible to write something about him, or how I feel when I'm around him. ..well, you get my point hopefully:)
Posted by Richard Vince on 09/02/04 at 10:40 PM astounding. the title grabbed me and the poem did not disappoint. it has to be the most original poem i've read in years.
Posted by Delilah Coyne on 04/09/05 at 06:36 PM I'd hate to be the inspiration for this poem! Wow! This is really original.
Posted by Bet Yeldem on 06/18/05 at 06:07 AM now one of my most loved poems on this site!
Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 08/19/06 at 03:26 PM I love the tree becoming paper on the ground. This is one of the classiest put-downs I've read.
Posted by Meghan Helmich on 11/12/07 at 04:15 PM oh man, how i'd love to tell someone they aren't poetry. but you know, for the most part, to actually go as far as to say that to someone (or about someone) is only proving to yourself how much you really DO believe that they are poetry. sigh.
Posted by Angela Nuzzo on 11/27/07 at 11:47 AM This is brilliant, Olivia! I was going to quote my favorite lines, but I'd have to quote the WHOLE POEM!!!! Those last 12 words are perfect. With the 3rd repetition of the title line, we really get the kick in the gut. Nice job.
| Posted by Meghan Helmich on 06/12/08 at 06:27 PM yup, this is solid. i wrote a poem like this once, back in the DAYYYY, and it was all 'you are not this, you are not that. and i am a liar.'
good thing yours didn't have the angst mine did hah |
Posted by Scott Utley on 12/21/08 at 07:47 PM I may sound a bit self-absorbed, but for a moment there, I really thought this song was about me, about me, I'm so vain, I really thought this song was about me, bout me ... I'm so vain! but you my lovely, are a genius! I am going back to the wonderful world of fast food, I could never write like this.
