A Lesson From My Father (part II) by Quinlan L GibsonYou've given me
Positivity.
Think in the light of the dark.
It will come.
Never underestimate myself
and my ability
to banish the harsh and crippling
and become anew,
enhancing me all the while
with our greatest asset.
I thank you, father.
For the illumination
that genetics alone could not instill.
Your words, your lessons
Your will, and your love,
for your daughter to think above
and beyond all that may hurt her.
And come out of it all
on top.
Even from hundreds of miles away
Your words are heard
everyday.
And I only hope
I can pass your enlightenment
on to my own.
So he may be strong
and think positive. 10/06/2003 Author's Note: I think this may be a rough draft. It came so suddenly. I miss my father very much. He is the only family member i have the bond with. My boy and I are flying out to Arizona to see him over Thanksgiving. I've not been there since he moved 3 years ago. I have alot i wish to say to him while i'm there. Alot of thanking.
