Sweet Shelter by Robert Cameron HazeltonAs the merciless elements conspire against us
with brutal torrents of howling denial
the deafening thunder rattles my senses
and heralds the start of our latest trial.
Miles between us seem like light years
the distance made greater by whispering fears.
I long to embrace you with passion untold
ardently squeezing the breath from your chest
this relentless desire cannot be controlled
but fate seems unwilling to grant my request;
with gleeful abandon the gale loudly screams-
another long night of unfulfilled dreams.
Head bowed in thought, discomfort forgotten
reliving that moment we choked out goodbyes,
these unfounded doubts are quite misbegotten
I can still see the glimmer of love in your eyes,
so limpidly beautiful, inviting and warm
the safest of havens to weather the storm.

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 10/23/14 at 04:38 PM The storm in this is vividly felt, and the passion palpable.. "ardently squeezing the breath from your chest" kind of makes me shudder, but overall this has a great flow and energy. Congrats on POTD! |
