red balloon by Kimberly Barefloating
fading on the horizon
against a cerulean sky
at once both
bereft of hope
and full of a joy
briefly bridled
by a child's hand
an ephemeral reminder
of all that was the
rapture and loss
of innocence
freely floating
fading on the horizon 09/15/2003 Posted on 09/15/2003 Copyright © 2025 Kimberly Bare
