freight train to nowhere

by Michele Schottelkorb

looking out into the sea
a reflection looking back at me
voices unheard, lessons unseen
pray to the gods, devour my spleen
help me, help me understand
take me away to wonderland
don't want to cope or handle it
see my face in a puddle of spit
dream gentle one of roses galore
smile as your back walks out the door
we ride this freight train to nowhere
sit foaming madly with a stare

can I get off this hellish ride?
is there a place where I can hide?

I find a great display of rhythm in these words, and the music I sense in them, toot, whirl me like caliopy.
