Coward and Yellow-Bellied Lies by Amber BYellow
pale sickly yellow
barely meeting my gaze
too afraid
(my wrath precedes me)
Yet why in the first place?
Saving trouble
being fair
instead you ripped it away
tore it out of my hands
creased it beyond recognition
and tell me royal purple lies
but the linen is sheer
and I see right through you
you
you and your gorgeous smile
tainted by arrogance
fiending on recognition
not so different
we two
the stage
the stage it calls us
you answer
I answer
you reach there first
and you taunt me
taunt ME
with promises
empty bottomless promises
and hide
until you believe
the storm has calmed
(tornadoes have been known to return to the same spot)...
