epitaph

by Rachelle Howe

your eyes were hallow,
a beacon shone once, never again.
you were my epitaph,
before they laid you low.
you were a memory
before i breathed you in.
you were my everything
and then the night began.

Chilling tribute. Loved the images that float in and out of the mind while reading this. Great verse.
