(chicago 13) Montrose

by Andrew S Adams

beach paper
dusty waves and the smog.
breathe in the atmosphere.
breathe in the skyline.
breathe in the water.
a page in a dusty notebook
can make 90 feel like a lazy 75.

and as i see the smogset,
i can notice several figures
enslaved to their cellphones-
too afraid to breathe in the here and now,
too afraid they'll notice the beauty
and never want to leave.

myself, i'm absorbed in the page of a notebook.
casually breathing in the view.
a breeze off the lake hits my back,
tonight is lazy on montrose beach.

This brings back memories. I must concur...just taking time sitting at Montrose Beach or running on the trail alongside Lake Michigan is quite lovely.
