coffin

by Michele Schottelkorb

there is a point of no return

i’ve heard it spoke of often

if you cannot recognize

might end up in a coffin

this is how i’ve come to see

my ever present plight

if my mind cannot exist

i’m ready for my flight

out of this world, and yours too

to nestle in my grave

for my child and my love

these words i hope you’ll save

i really did try my best

to make a difference here

but, alas, it cannot pass

my heart, a broken tear…

This is exquisite; haunting imagery, flawless flow.

Powerful and disturbing little verse. Great read.

Can't help but agree with the first two comments; both haunting and disturbing. Quite effective!
