Lovely Little Stone

by Ken Harnisch

If somewhere in the universe

Some planet, likened onto ours, exists

And on that place stands our equals

In height, in weight, in all designs

Then your clone is mine, my love

Should I traverse the galaxy

To land upon that lovely little stone

This time I will hold you close

This time I will keep you near

And when, threatened by my own

Consuming arrogance, I recall

How earthÂ’s gravity did not keep me from flying

After you, I will remember

That I lost you just the same

Perhaps, on this rocky outcrop

In the maw of space, all mistakes

May be rectified; all wrongs set right; all

Fires that scorch the young with

Self-righteous flame will be quelled

In the cleansing sea of Wisdom

And I will never have to pray again

I lost you to my night; I seek you in its stars

How often I have come and read your words, never comming away untouched. It brings tears to my eyes to read this, funny how feelings can echoe, and be expressed by others better than we can express them ourselves. Great Poem Ken
