Ugly Girl

by Shayla R Cakes

She sees an ugly girl
In the mirror each day
With a tear falling down her cheek
Piling on the makeup
To hide her face away
A beautiful reflection she seeks
In that mirror her worst enemy lies
A physics equation gone wrong
"My reflection's so ugly,"
Her broken heart cries
She know she cant look very long.
She can't look in the mirror,
She musn't, she won't
The reflections just too much to bear
An ugly face
An ugly heart,
And an ugly soul she sees
She almost can't help but to stare
At the ugly girl standing before her
The tears flowing steadily now
She doesn't understand this ugly girl she sees
Why is she there and how
"My whole family is beautiful
Their eyes, their hair
Their perfectly flawless skin.
Why have I been cursed with this face
This horrendous shell I've been placed in."
She closes her eyes to make it stop
She cannot look anymore.
For when she looks in the mirror
That enemy of a mirror
She only sees an ugly girl.

Worthy reminder for all of us to look inside ourselves for true beauty.
