the loneliness of summer

by Philippa Jane

I felt so lonely today.

By sunset I had crawled
into bed, a disjointed
heart
surrounded by deadweight
limbs,
wrapping thoughts of
you around me
like a
blanket -

and yet it's (still)
easier
to breathe when
I'm so
close
to choking.

Author's Note: Perhaps still in the works, but complete.. for now. A tad shorter than what I usually write, though.

Many times a short one carries the most fascinating thoughts. Wonderful job here. :)

I really enjoyed the imagery and expression in this. I'd even chop off that last stanza; more impact that way.
