(chicago 19) homecoming

by Andrew S Adams

let's just forget this ever happened
let's just erase the scars.
i can say that, i've forgotten mine.
i cant feel them anymore.

your scars can feel my scars and this is how we connect

welcome to the brutal reality of return,
i havent changed. but the world has spun
and i am never at the same place anymore.
i am home, but this is not home.

and i am yours, but i guess
i'm not me anymore,
or you're not you.
either way, we still have
eachother's scars.

welcome home, treasonous soldier of god.

Author's Note: this is actually the 20th poem that i've written since leaving for chicago. as you will see, all the titles with (chicago) before it, are a chronicle of my trip. this one, i've just written. the ending at the beginning, in a way. i'll post the rest soon.
