a familiar longing by Andrew S Adamscursory breath. an electric heart.
here you lay- trapped in the tangles
of your imprisoned mind. locked
away in the cages of sleeplessness.
a slight movement causes a stir,
anything could be out in this eventide.
crawling. lurking. waiting.
ready to attack.
you wait for the moments.
you wait for the safety.
you wait for a savior that will never materialize
and you wait for a dream called futility.
haunted in this bleak crypt of a bedroom,
a sweat breaks. attention breaks. you break.
maneuver in stealth; tonight you'll confront your fears.
a quiet lull covers the room, a breeze of anticipation
fills the air.
a pin drops.
a fear rises.
another dream escapes-
as you shoot up in your bed,
you see the emptiness invade.
and soon, a familliar longing
will haunt your eve once again. 07/26/2003 Author's Note: insomnia;
