twisted insanity

by Michele Schottelkorb

twisted playthings

wicked toys

not meant at all

for little girls or boys

carousel laughter

mirrored house insanity

utter terror

dismisses your vanity

step inside

experience the fear

psychotic episodes

are very near

distorted images

lace your mind

“oh dear,” you say

“I’m in a bind”

this sickness takes on

a distorted from

not something you’re used to

not of the norm

but blink three times

it disappears

until tomorrow

an ugly head it rears

I love the fact that you are so anchored to your experience and yet can walk at will, in and out of yourself and enter with such vision as this that only a poetic kitten would drag in.

The images of a childhood gone awry has me scrambling for my therapist's number. Great read that spans generations.
