Belated Pathetic Prerequisite~or~ Love By Definition

by Alex Smyth

For my love, I am a journey

     An anticipation of a voyage

     A beckoning of a horizon

     The challenge of a safari

     The comfort of a destination

For my love, I am a knowledge

     The equation of an existence

     The thesis of generations

     A degree of attainment

     An opera of the soul

For my love, I am a quest

     A belief in destiny

     The honor of a vow

     Faith of a victory

     And promise of a reward

For my love, I am a woman

With eyes that own a sparkle

And lips that hold a warmth

     My heart, a silver chalice

For the journeyman knows his quest.

Author's Note: It just isn't a Pathetic library without at least one love poem.

Love is all that, Smyth... what wonderful descriptions! Each line could be a poem in itself...

A wonderful definition of love from the distaff side. Pathetic without love poetry would be, well, yes, pathetic! ;)

Hi Alex, I agree with Quentin Clingerman.

A beautiful addition to your own library as well as to the volumes of love poems already in existence. This rates among the best of them!

no sweeter, more tender words were spoken Alex, lucky, whomever the recipient.

love poems are the hardest to write without sounding sappy. yours sounds strong - you've done well with the genre :)

I love a good love poem and this is a fine example. Nicely expressed sentiment and unique format, Alex. Peace...

Love is well defined through your pen... excellent and fluid.

Is it a prerequisite ??? Then I have one in my library. haha. The definition sounds perfect when some one loves by one's whole being. Yes, love is faith. Love is hope. The vibration of love has to emanate from not only emotional centre but also from intellectual, mechanical and spiritual centres. Beautiful composition of words and feelings, Alex. Full marks.
