I Still Hide My Face by Kitty NessNature did not mourn the loss of you.
It continued to spin, to revolve,
to sit like bronze upon a marbled pediment.
The world did not hesitate.
The sun set and rose simultaneously
over your body, in its state of nonexistance,
just as it had
when you lived.
It thrust itself through the windowpanes
setting shadows off, cornering
and covering the inside of the
gaping white room.
I sat with the weight of what I had done,
waited until it changed into freedom,
and left, speeding through fog.
And the moon stuck through the clouds
like broken ice. 07/04/2003 Posted on 07/05/2003 Copyright © 2025 Kitty Ness

Posted by Morgan D Hafele on 11/06/03 at 01:19 AM the first two lines are very heavy as are, "I sat with the weight of what I had done,/
waited until it changed into freedom" very nice piece hits a powerful note. |
