a dimlight contradiction

by Andrew S Adams

as shadowed figures emerge from the darkness,
a spark shower cries out to its mistress,
hopefully in dismay that no other light will invade
on it's so feverishly coveted holdings.
the shadows, now protruding out into the
asiles, casting a coma of sleeplessness over
all the world, dutifully fulfilling
this wish, perfectly, complacently-
and without so much as an akward glance of notice.

this is how i have lived forever,
sheilding myself as an impenitrable darkness.
safeguarding from the world, safeguarding from
hope.

however, you are lingering close-by,
and the shadows are slowly learning
to betray their place.
i would have none but contempt,
yet you inspire it's opposite,
making my emotions all the more confused

Beautifully intelligent language that draws the reader into an incredibly vivid experience.
