cellophane escape

by Andrew S Adams

wake me, cellophane escape
but wait- wait for the death of night
where there is nothing but cruel release-
nothing but self defeat.
snipe me from a tower high;
sneak from the depths of my perilous lows.
wait, hesitate for a mere moment,
AND CRASH
through the thicket.

Face me with my destiny,
destitute and unforgiving.
incoherrant and tainted.
a morbid beauty, if presented
before the discerning eye.

and from this beauty arises
a hopeless chance
subtly collapsed;
here, a cellophane escape
has shown its grace.
slowly. taking. hold.
freedom.

AND THEN A CATACLYSM of
remorse and doubt grips its fingers
around my throat;
an intensity slightly erotic in it's pain.
but a regret is occupied with the stranglehold,
making my thrashing of hope futile.

All in a matter of seconds,

with [___________]

just like that,
i become a lethal dosage
