A True Poet

by Lori Johnson

A true poet

could describe in perfect imagery
the feeling of the exact moment
when I first felt you spill over in to me.
So much so that
I am no longer capable
of thinking with one mind.
You seep through my every breath.

A true poet

could show you in vivid detail
how you encapture all that fulfills me.
Fleeting thoughts of you enter me
as constant as a river's flow,
you are in and of me.

A true poet

could flower words and erupt emotions.
A true poet, I am not.
But, I give to you my words, my Self
my everything
for that is all there is of me.

A true poet

could tell you that...much better than I.

I beg to differ, Lori..a true poet wrote this ode..and she should accept all credit for doing so!

A true poet... opens one's heart and soul to let the emotions of the universe flow through and pour out upon the parchment of our minds, to fill us as never before... you are indeed just such a one.

You sell yourself short dear. All in all a great piece. I really liked the feeling of this.

This is fantastic. I am not a true poet either, but I keep trying.

A true poet doesn't see him/herself as a poet...that's not what keeps him/her busy, yet in the meantime everyone else already sees just that...so, after reading the comments above...by now it must have dawned that that is exactly what you are Lori!
