Lullaby by Charles J HannanThis bird sings by my window
On a late Saturday evening
11:46 to be exact
As I thumb up another poem
In my little nook and cranny
A full moon could explain
Why we're both not asleep
Or maybe we just had something to say
For I keep typing
And he is still singing
A lullaby so all alone
I get sleepier with each keystoke
And wonder if it's my light that keeps him up
What will he sing
In the morning song
If I've kept him up too late
Early birds can't fetch the worms
If sleepy eyed and hoarse
I guess I'll turn the light off
And try to get some sleep
Another day is almost here again
We are singing the same song

In the morning If I've kept him up too late
No worms for that early bird. Note the deliberate absence of that last line...just a suggestion. Great work!
