note to an emo boy

by Emily G Myers

stop your whining
crying in the corner
wishing to save everyone but yourself
wipe your own eyes for a change
not in distress just cause she's a damsel

and she's got tissues of her own
no need for your hand
no need for a rescue
we don't all feed on feelings

and maybe she craves something more real than a song

don't pretend beauty is more than skin deep for you
that you can see so far in
when that damsel's outsides always rival her insides
and even pretty girls can get by
without your help

I can wipe away my own tears, thanks

Author's Note: I've wondered for a while what annoys me about "emo" boys. They run around pretending to focus on others, but are actually thinking of themselves the whole time. Wiping that tear from her face is about how great he is, not how sad she is. And that sucks. While watching some All American Rejects video today I realized that, and this poem just appeared. It reminds me of some of my older stuff. Hope that's not a bad thing... eeek

ouch.... i'm crying for you... :(. seriously though, you're nearly completely right- and corporate emo in particular (AAR, NFG, Saves the day... etc) really does that to an astonishing degree. there are exceptions, though... mainly the ones who dont even have a concept of what the feck 'emo' is. good poem anywho... :) *tear*
