a Farewell

by Adrian Calhoun

Night has fallen,
the dense fog set in,
and the humidity is choking me.

So it appears,
on this moonless night,
that we have come to the end.

There are no more wild winds to ride,
pots of gold to find,
or wild blue yonders to chase after.

We have reached the other end,
the end of our rainbow.

Author's Note: To and for an old childhood friend which time and life has seperated from me. We were the best of friends throughout our childhood. I had the pleasure of seeing him again after all these years at my sisters wedding, which brought back some great memories, and sadness for losing touch.

I have a childhood friend that evokes the very same emotions. Thank you for sharing this one, Adrian. Good stuff. :)

Very emotional. The imagery shows journey that seems almost childlike (rainbows and such) that come to an abrupt and dismal end. "humidity is choking me" is very strong

Wonderful! I too can relate to the sentiments, looking back on the close friendships that have faded away.

Poignant, nostalgic, a tribute to pleasant memories. Poetically reminding us that time moves on and our lives change.

A very belated congrats on your POTD Mr.C. I was browsing through the past history and found this. Missing old friends is hard but Tommy would be proud. Well written with heartfelt sentiment. I can relate. *hugs* Mrs.C
