modern chameleon

you just assumed.
like any wild creature
i knew enough to hide
relying on camouflage
to protect myself from
encroaching humanity.
your notorious blindness hid me.
you couldn't see
why i never fit with
your 'civilized' friends.
i was too serious,
'civilized' to an extreme,
overcompensation for
never really understanding
the point.
i never let you see
the person i really was
the person who licked her fingers
.......................picked her nose
.......................ran naked through her house
.......................screamed
......................................and cried
....................................................and railed
against fate
when no one was there to judge
you really ought have suspected
no person can really have icewater for blood
the way you ignorantly claimed i did
you never gave me reason to trust you
you who were so totally blind to understanding
oh yes, i hid myself well from you
behind a facade of 'civilized' behavior
a coping mechanism for not understanding
why i felt myself a foreigner in your midst.
you scratched your head, passed me by
for not wearing the 'right' clothes,
not making the 'right' moves,
because i was a little too odd,
because i thought before reacting.
well, that's your problem now.
no, i never was civilized.
thank god.

False projections, untruths, the so called civilized behavior, the concepts of false realities etc are common hence NORMAL. This is enough for any INDIVIDUAL to start playing roles,in order to interact with the CROWD. Role playing is part of civilized behaviour as far as the CROWD is concerned but a necessity for an INDIVIDUAL. The INDIVIDUAL is cursed to live a lonely life since CROWD doesn't have the capacity to either recognize an INDIVIDUAL as INDIVIDUAL or respect his INDIVIDUALISM. In his eyes the INDIVIDUAL will always remain a FREAK. There shall always remain a reality clash. Galileo was kept under house arrest for his theory did not fit into the paradigm of the established text book. |
