good-bye my love

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

Good-bye my love,
I have basked in our love,
And then lived in its shadows
For ten years.
I have immortalized who we were,
And carried it on my sleeve.
It is time to realize that you’re gone,
and that was who we were,
Not who I am anymore.
I can’t live in the confines of your memory
I am still living,
I need to learn to live without you…
I need to say good-bye my love,
I need to let this go.
I can’t be just a widow anymore,
I want to be a wife again,
I want to let go of the fears.
It’s taken me over five years to realize,
That you’re not coming home,
And that you would be okay,
If I moved on….
I need to say good-bye my love,
I need to let this go.

Heart wrenching, but so true...life is for the living, with the blessing of those loved ones who've moved on.
