instructions for ramen by Andrew S Adamsturn on your favorite
leaky faucet.
two cups of water,
no more. no less.
SPLOOSH,
as it slowly floods the pan.
WOOSH,
as it is hit again
an echoed sound,
but from a second round.
clink, on the burner.
click, flip on the dial.
sit and wait, as the heat
will soon radiate.
coming up from a silent swish,
a roar will soon consume the room
closer to my wish.
at full throttle, there is a crash.
noodles in the mix, the boil
is momentarily quieted,
and covered.
slowly, the water boils over the noodles
and they are to become soft.
two minutes time by now,
and switch the burner off.
add the flavor,
the tiny shiny packet.
stir in and savor,
as the noodles pass past your lips
leaving soon just the broth
for small smacks and slirps and sips.
ahh, the joys of cooking. 05/04/2003 Posted on 05/05/2003 Copyright © 2025 Andrew S Adams
