Mornings Were The Best

by Charles J Hannan

My eyelids slowly open
To reveal a beautiful woman
You standing there smiling
Saying "I made pancakes and coffee"
And I know I'm cared for
A love growing stronger every day
Just those words
Are etched in my mind
How we click is so wonderful
And the coffee pours
Your dad and I picking at you
In fun
Because we care so much
A rare event, us together
We have to make the best of this
It goes by so quickly...life
Cherishing every moment
And the syrup pours
But you have yours with sugar
And rolled like a burrito
It's the little things
I can never forget
Soft sounds from the radio play
As the dj talks about the locals
with intermittent Christmas songs
And our coversation pours
