a drumroll, if you will.
a climax worth reaching once in a while
an idea fully realized-
and a sorrow of defeat gleaming in the background.
you and i, we cross through the meanings
of what it is to explore, and want something more
but you and i, we share these feelings
that make us too afraid to completely let go.

yet we found a reason to try it all
the caving in to your precious walls
i never want to be so alone again
i never want to leave you low and then
let go of you.

we've discovered so much since that first day,
the nights afterward i would replay
that one true night and feeling of close
and the things that we had that we chose
to do that one, fateful day
and a year is coming around,
for the first time.
but we are never coming down
off of this high.
