The Keeper

by Kate Demeree

Deep within the cavern
Against the farthest wall
Stands the last lonely keeper
When comes the clarion call
And the sound of the trumpet
Echoes the chamber round
When the last note sings
The keeper can’t be found
Truly it did call
To the one who stood alone

Sweet and soft the notes
That sound in the air
Calling to the spirit
That still knows how to care
The keeper keeps the candle
Shines the light of love
Keeping the promise
Sent down from above
Always open hearted
Giving freely all
Picking up the angels
That chance to fall
Setting straight the halos
Dusting off the gowns
Whispering the promises
That takes away the frowns

Yes he is the keeper
The keeper of the flame
Till the final moment
When she whispers his name
Then there sounds the trumpet
That calls his spirit home
Safe in open arms
No more
Alone

Eloquent expression Kate. A new favorite of mine of yours. Have suggested it as POTD. :o)
