Quiet Man

by Kate Demeree

Quiet Man

ItÂ’s the gentle hand
You place on my arm
At the slightest chance
Of slipping
That makes my heart stop
Mid-beat

The quiet voice
You use when talking to me
Makes words unimportant

The trust I view
In your eyes
Leaves me breathless

I do not know
What tomorrow
Will bring
I am happy
In this moment

The clock and world
Far away
Muted things
In the land of now

Wishing I could somehow
Keep this moment
Forever

Stay where I am

Cocooned in your arms
Wrapped around you
Drowning in your eyes
