bleed for beauty

by Emily G Myers

tiny glass shards in my skin
call them glitter
dress them up to be something beautiful
they cut me
bring forth my tears
they just sparkle
just for decoration
but I'm bleeding for this beauty
crying for this cover-up
you only gaze upon my glitter
seeing it for what it is
never glancing beneath to see my pain
never seeing how I hurt to cover up
how I ache for this decoration
and bleed for beauty
