You Inspire Me

by Ken Harnisch

You inspire me

And sometimes when

I am in need I will call to you

And if you are not there

I will whisper some conjuration

That will bring your sweetest memory

Back to me.

I cannot write of you

In the mornings anymore, and in the

Afternoons we both complain that

Life has taken us so far from

The pen that we cannot find

Our hearts again. I mourn that

Small, but significant loss of you;

The passion that had me

Sitting here till dawn

Penning words in fire and ice

In beautiful accompaniment.

But more than that, I miss

The simple reality that you

Could wring words from my soul

When I thought the sponge was twisted dry.

It seems to be twisted now, and yet,

I’m writing on, and I know

You must be inspiring me

How amazing it is to inspire someone to that depth, and be the inspired. A very real, honest poem - I loved it. :)

Beauty on a page that echoes through heart and soul.

i have a person that is like that to me. every time i get discouraged or hurt, i think of the words he has said to encourage me or to make me realize that it wasn't all my fault.
