I want it back by Ginette T BelleCan I have my dignity back?
I know I gave it to you not thinking I would need it
But it's so algid and wet
Without it's temperate coat to feed my conscience
And you don't need it anyway
Because you have no interest in saving yourself
Seeing that you have your firewater to keep you warm
So why should you care which way the wind breathes
Therefore, if it isn't too much trouble
If you could spare a moment
from your downward spiraling world
Just slip it under the door
And maybe someday I'll be able to pick it up.
