latté by Andrew S Adamsthe words are like your
trusty starbucks logo:
on the side of every
unrecycled paper-cup
reminding you of your consumerism.
defining you by your greed.
we woke up, from the sleep
of a conciousness.
somehow, the caffiene jolt
got us going,
kept us going,
keeps us going,
offering worship and tribute
to a green goddess on the cup.
careful, contents may be hot.
caution: the burns from a spill
of this precious double-mocha
half drip chai latté
(with one chocolate coated espresso bean)
will do nothing to stimulate
the world surrounding.
you can tear down the forests-
build up all the coffeehouses
(the ones brimming
with pretentious poetry)
but you'll run out of paper cups
to give all your worship;
and your goddess will be gone. 04/14/2003 Posted on 04/15/2003 Copyright © 2025 Andrew S Adams
