I Speak For Earth

by Charlie Morgan

I Speak For Earth

Poets would lay their scheme to the wind
for a blustery blow would await them
when, as they defiantly tried to claim you,
your essence overshot their expectations…
…by light-years.

“A planet only!” all poet-skeptics would disclaim
and harumph to all who are in eye and earshot
saying further, ‘she’s nothing until We notice’
then with words they will tear her down…
… just to build her up.

Satisified not until all that’s a living-green is a burnt-orange
and dead leaves aren’t the only ones in the trash-pile
the wordsmiths wrench each word of its ever-meaning
and left only is the skeletal remains of a language…
… yet not spoken to anyone, by anyone.

Powerful message here. Tone expertly combines rebellion and frustration. Kudos!
