If Fish

by Charlie Morgan

If Fish

If fish rode bicycles would the world stare
in wonder, fret, make a fuss or even care?

Wouldn’t something have to be done
about this, the pisciculture’s fun?

We’d curb that kind of behaving methinks
not with tsks tsks but in an eyeblink.

We’d pass laws that make this act taxable,
fish’d find jobs and pay them if able.

If not, then confiscate the bicycles would be the plan
and the non-conformists we’d slam in the can.

Fish riding bicycles, how insane, how absurd, ludicrous plus
them thinking they could be like us.

Poor bastards, they don’t have a hint much less a clue
about us and bicycles and the things we do.

In eons to come mayhaps they can develop and evolve
making this dilemma an easy one to solve.

The other problems, enigmas and dilemmas we daily meet
we’ll see what they do when laid at their fin-feet.

Maybe we can learn and grow from watching another specie
take our life’s problems and swim away free.

Quite imaginative...has almost a Dr. Seuss quality to it.
