Echo::Cybernaut

by D. Xavier Bari

OS-Date 2003-04.13

Now nearly ten years
into a four year mission,
this vessel isn't nearly
as cozy as advertised.

These fingers ache,
the back, too, it seems,
eyes and mind are worn
and the new life
and new civilizations
they promised--aren't.

One thing went as expected.

Cyberspace is teeming:
but with naïve children,
with perverts, miscreants,
the redundant middle,
and all the things
the cybernauts
sought to leave behind.

Which way is Earth?

This is an interesting grass is greener kind of thing. it sucks to look for better opportunity only to find its not what you expected. nice read.

Well worded wakeup call. You make some good points, although I still see more positives than negatives of Cyberspace.
