One Lonely Night by Kate DemereeOne Lonely Night
It's Saturday, karaoke night at Kelly's Pub again He sits wrapped around his drink As another singer takes the stage Looks up briefly, noting an angelic face Not a gal who would ease his soul
Speakers that had assaulted his senses More than once this night, crackle to life Seductive, midnight eyes reflect in the mirror Over the bar, seeming to look into him As memories smoke dance through his mind
Soft and sultry, yet deep as the sea Her voice drips bittersweet tears Into his already full cup, holding him Willing prisoner, of yesterday In life's raw wind and rain
In the half-light which follows each act Accompanied by a mellow hush She makes her way out Briefly stopping behind his chair In seeming acknowledgement
The night that Lady Sang the Blues

Posted by James Zealy on 08/02/04 at 05:31 PM Kate, there is something about song, for those that can sing or perform, that releases all the demons, even if it is just for a moment. I hope you continue. |
