cheap nights (without a moon)

by Andrew S Adams

tapping keys
just hard enough to hear
but light enough to
leave my screen, like my mind
blank.

disrupting the silence from
it's all encompassing greatness-
but it's cheap...
i cant see the moon.

i can see the glow of a radiation tube
telling me what keys i may have
hit too hard-
as i can not help but disrupt
the beauty held within
their small plastic caps.

i rip through the night-
a hawk with no direction,
but SCREAMING nonetheless.
but my voice, it is nowhere to be heard
other than the fierce tapping
eminating from my fingers.

and the echoes, they linger.

i know i've broken the night
and all that would be sacred.
i'd apoligize for it all-
the disturbing the night,
but my continued typing,
drowns out it's message.

i will leave it to the hum of the fan
of my computer
to make the night understand.
my mind, it's still blank.
but the sounds, and the page
are most fulfilled.
