streams of consciousness on light

by Betania Tesch

the lights were so bright
that I forgot to turn them on
and the end result was another light
in my face and knocking on my
retina with a puzzled grin
wondering just how he'd take me
but I played the tired emotional card
and tried to look like something shadowed
so he left again and I remembered
that my lights were possible
on a darkened road
but somewhere the city is blackened
and somewhere the option
to forget to turn them on
has been removed from the equation
yes, somewhere eyes don't open anymore
(the light cannot be perceived so
the light is not, despite it's being.)

'the light cannot be perceived so the light is not, despite it's being.'- Yes, it is when it is. And it is percieved when it is. Even when the option has been removed from the equation. The new eqation shall be formulated in the light of the new perception. The beautiful aspect of the SEEING is that it can be SEEN with the eyes closed. How long can one keep the eyes closed in the light of lights? And does it really matter so far the switchs are ON? haha I like this. The msg is so very well worded and so meaningfully. Its multidimensional. One can try and find meaning in meaning. Beautiful.

What a powerful and poignant expression of your own journey through these dark days. I would not have thought about commenting on the light... but how eerie it is to see on the tv images of the war... Your poem works at many levels. Sometimes easy to forget that ...my lights are possible even on a darkened road...
