Existing in a Box

by Trisha De Gracia

Profound truth
is in the minds
of those who wish to seek it.
Those who never search
never find
and never grow.
How beautiful are
the minds of all the children
facsinated, naturally
by nature
who find beauty and wonder
in every little thing
including horrid morbid details
till their mothers tell them
"no"
and lock them in a sanitary
metal room
in which they learn
to be polite
and let all morbidities
boil beneath
the placid surface.
And in this
we never learn to look
beyond the barred windows
of our socially exceptable
jail cells,
even in adulthood
when the walls have disappeared

we are all

still existing

in a box.

well all we can do is promise ourselves that we won't do the same to OUR future children and they'll grow up with all the blossoming powers of their free mentality about them. another insightful poem, Trisha.
