Another Silly Love Poem. by Trisha De GraciaYou do this to me.
I'm sitting here
writing love poems
inside
at 4:37 on a sunny afternoon
when I could be out anywhere.
I try not to sound
like the monotonous hum
of poems about love
and adoration
that I see everyday
but they're true
and they're perfect
so why not?
You're beautiful
I know it harms your
masculine super ego
when I call you that
but it's true
and you are
and you know it.
I tried to avoid it
I can't, so I'll say it
I love to feel your arms
wrap around my soul.
your kiss,
placed politely
on my forehead
makes me feel like autumn rain
in June;
Soft, sweet
uninvited but welcome.
so here I go
writing about love
tripping over words
and phrases that don't work
backspacing and editing
all for a poem
about a boy.
How silly. 03/23/2003 Author's Note: whats gotten into me?
