Another Silly Love Poem.

by Trisha De Gracia

You do this to me.
I'm sitting here
writing love poems
inside
at 4:37 on a sunny afternoon
when I could be out anywhere.

I try not to sound
like the monotonous hum
of poems about love
and adoration
that I see everyday
but they're true
and they're perfect
so why not?

You're beautiful
I know it harms your
masculine super ego
when I call you that
but it's true
and you are
and you know it.

I tried to avoid it
I can't, so I'll say it
I love to feel your arms
wrap around my soul.
your kiss,
placed politely
on my forehead
makes me feel like autumn rain
in June;
Soft, sweet
uninvited but welcome.

so here I go
writing about love
tripping over words
and phrases that don't work
backspacing and editing
all for a poem
about a boy.

How silly.

All the description of the hesitation about writing the poem only serves to highlight the beauty of the actual love poem lines. They burst through like rays of sunshine.

Absolutely, and simply awesome.
