razor tongue

by Michele Schottelkorb

harsh words come ill intended
roll off the razor tongue
and strike their victim
with a vicious nature

who do i think i am
cursing this one who just loves me
deducing the mortal to a pile of dust
for what?

apologies are just that
once the poison words are spoken
they cannot be taken back
they linger in the air like a foul odor

no reason or rhyme
to this disgraceful display of "love"
no excuses granted to this Princess
who acts like a tyrant

shall you forgive me
my Love?
what's done is done
but i am willing to keep trying
to remember that you
are
on my side...

knock me on the head
i have been told this before
to merely open one's stubborn eyes
and see what is really there...

the leaves fall and winds blow the pain away
the child draws us pictures
and the lover gives us one more chance
i better take it...

for me, these words seem to echo the ancient tried and true sentiment. to err is human to forgive divine. and as we are humans, not merely one day in our lives, but every day; we err every day and for those of us with forgiving natures, we forgive on a daily basis. and if Karma serves us, somewhere, for giving of our divinity, we would will have saved quite the coins to pass the muster when it comes our turn to be forgiven.
