I Don't Feel Like A Love Poem

by Ken Harnisch

I don’t feel like a love poem

In these troubled hours

But that doesn’t mean

I will not fall, relieved,

Into the circle of your welcoming arms

Or softly kiss your lips

If they are gently offered me.

I have taken solace in your heart

Before;

Restored my soul at the well

Of your supportive conversation;

Leaned, almost leadenly,

On your sweet shoulder

In all too many times of rain.

But this is a maelstrom of another

Kind, and the weight I would suffer

To lay upon you is one both

Unbidden and unfair

To a soul I treasure so.

Yet, I find, you embrace me still

Even in the darkness

Where my words are acid-dipped

And my heart as black as night

And even though I cannot

Bring myself to write the

Words of Love, perhaps

In their unspoken clarity

I already have

And you, you always seem to

Hear them when I do

Words never spoken are sometimes more beautiful than the ones that are and true love is always there even when the words are not. Another beautiful poem Ken! :o)

never ceases to amaze me what you can accomplish with your words. This is one of my favorites of yours now. Great job!

I stumbled across this.... stopped... stared.. read, and reread.... For some reason, it made me feel like I was standing at the edge of a rocky climb staring out at blue sky, and cloud, with the sun shinning and a day just beginning.
